Fairy season is here, and with it comes a world of tiny wonders waiting in the wings. As open-ended play takes flight, there’s no better time to create delicate felt wings for your wooden nins and small dollhouse friends. With just a few simple materials and some creativity, you can elevate small world play while inviting storytelling, creativity, and hands-on making.

Gather Your Materials
- Felt craft sheets
- Tapestry needle
- Embroidery thread
- Fabric glue
- Seed beads
- Scissors
- Cardboard

Create Your Template:
Draw your desired wing shape onto cardboard and cut it out. Use your peg dolls or nins as a guide to size your wings just right.
Cut the Felt:
Trace your template onto felt sheets and cut out your wings. For a fuller look, layer two pieces together for each set.
Decorate:
Let creativity lead the way. Add small felt shapes, embroidery details, beads, or soft accents, allowing each pair of wings to be entirely unique.
Add the Ties:
Cut a piece of embroidery floss about 6 inches long and thread your needle. Decide where the wings will sit on your doll, then stitch from the back to the front, leaving a tail of thread behind.

Secure with Beads:
Thread a few seed beads onto the floss at the front, then guide the needle back through to the reverse side. Tie the ends together securely, adding extra beads to the ties if you’d like.

Tie & Play:
Wrap the strings gently around your doll’s neck and tie in a small bow. Your fairy is ready to take flight.
A Little Note
There’s something deeply meaningful about creating by hand and allowing each detail to become part of the story. What begins as a simple craft slowly transforms into something more, woven into the rhythm of play. These tiny wings invite children to create new stories and to build small worlds that feel entirely their own. We can't wait to see what you create!
