Caldecott winning author and illustrator, Michaela Goade's luminous rendering of water and forest, berries and jams glows with her love of the land and offers an invitation to readers to deepen their own relationship with the earth.

Berry Song takes place at the edge of a wide, wild sea, on a small island, where a young girl and her wise grandmother gather gifts from the earth. Salmon from the stream, herring eggs from the ocean, and in the forest, a world of berries.

Following this sweet pair through the varying seasons, this story of generational love, respect for nature's bounty, and the joys of foraging, brims with joy and gratitude. Told with breathtaking illustrations, this enduring story helps readers to forge a deeper kinship with the generations that came before, joining in the song that connects us all.

A beautiful book!

This book surprised me. The artwork is stunning! It is magical yet grounded. I had no idea so many berries grew in Sitka.

I had planned to read this with my granddaughter when our own raspberries are ripe and we go berry picking. She spied this book on my desk and asked if we could read it. I enjoyed the reverence to the land and sea and the sweet relationship between the grandma and her granddaughter.
